Reviews Summary
Overall, people like the Affect: Addiction Recovery app, praising its supportive community, flexible and convenient structure, effectiveness in aiding addiction recovery, and the added monetary incentives, despite some criticisms regarding its buggy nature, high costs, and occasional issues with communication.
Hands down the best program I've tried. This program does what it says and so much more. It is both for those seeking complete rehab as well as those seeking to reduce use (harm reduction). I am phobic about group meetings in person, but doing group through Zoom in this program is something I look forward to. Every aspect of this program has been easy and the support is phenomenal.
At first I was a little indifferent, initially you can only go through and do challenges and tasks. Once I actually met one of the counselors via zoom through the app I noticed that while the tasks only earn you 10 cents the meetings themselves earn more. I've actually been able to cash out which is genuinely a surprise to me, and it's an actual program that I can work without feeling pressured. Definitely recommend anyone who wants to gain an incentive to be sober.
The app is buggy. This program takes a one size fits all approach to treatment. There is no way to communicate directly with the therapist. And quitting the program is difficult. I will update when I figure out how to do that. My last communication with the "care team" involved repeating myself ad nauseum to an unprofessional representative who sounded high. I'm not sure how to report the interaction. Everything about this program is cyclical and unhelpful and frustrating.

Hi Mandy, I'm really sorry to hear about your experience with Affect. It sounds like we have fallen short across a number of areas. I'd love to hear more about your situation and understand what we can do to improve. If you send a quick email to [email protected] I can look into your case more closely.
So far the people that I have come into contact thru Affect are great but the app its self needs some work. There is one document that it will just not let me sign..I've tried a million times to hit the submit button after finishing what is supposed to be required..super frustrating. And The app is sort of slow overall...feels pretty buggy.
Amazing (albeit minimal) incentive each and every day to at least log in and answer a couple questions regarding your use. Whether you're trying to completely stop using, or just decrease your usage, they can and will help. Even if your insurance isn't accepted for full counseling support you can still use their app, for free! Honestly, just having that little bit of accountability really set things in motion for me....
Sobriety was my goal & I was able to achieve it going cold turkey without any relapsing! Affect definitely helped make all this possible. With my will and determination to quit, Affects program made it incredibly easy with the support from my community in group and my one on one's with my therapist. There are really cool challenges and exercises that the app gives you each day & upon completion you get a incentive. I love that it's a judgement free zone.
Affect has been a light for me in the shadowy darkness of addiction. There are great tools to use through the app, Affect sets you up with a counselor, a medical doctor, and weekly group meetings to support your recovery. The system pays rather well considering your getting paid to go through recovery. I've been in the program for a month and I don't recall every having so much support and care focused on me. It's truly been an awesome experience.
I just started this treatment program and really like the way the program is structured. The counselors couldn't be nicer and everything is done on the zoom platform. Also I think getting paid for fulfilling your treatment responsibilities is an awesome idea. I've only been doing treatment for a week, but I must say, it is easy and with the flexible schedule I am very optimistic.
They don't listen to you. They don't reply to texts or emails. Often times, IF they reply, it is absolutely left field irrelevant the next day or so, again, if at all. There's a lack of notifications despite being on excellent wifi and all turned on. Their internal communication is horrid! It's not like they advertise it. Update: over 1m using it, counselor forgot about me, still no intake with Dr, still no orientation, community circle a waste. Cannot reach human to assist with issues still.
The only criticism I have for this entire idea is that you can't communicate with anyone through texting, which I was under the impression that I was going to be able to do that. it's not so, yah they send you texts that SEEM as if they're from someone, but they're not really. 🤷🏼 It's a lot easier for me to text than to speak on the phone, and I made it a point to be sure and ask and I was assured that it would be the case, but again, it's not. So, maybe actually make it to where ppl CAN text.
