Reviews Summary
Users generally like the Calorie Counter by Cronometer app, praising its ease of use, comprehensive tracking of nutrients, and helpful integration features like barcode scanning and synchronization with health devices; however, some users mention drawbacks such as the need for manual entry for certain foods, occasional bugs, and intrusive ads for free users.
I really enjoy this app and go back and forth with a paid account. I think the one feature I wish it had was, when searching for a food in the database, it should list any previously logged food that matches the search at the top of the list. The fact that you basically can't search your own log history is kind of a hassle.
Developer response:
Hey Joshua! I recently did a AMA on Reddit and a lot of our other users mentioned that being able to search their previous entries would be a helpful feature added to the app too. I forwarded on their requests and will forward on yours too! Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Have a great year ahead!
I tried other weight loss/meal tracking apps before and I never had any success with them nor did I have the drive to continue using them. But cronometer is so easy to use and it's so much more in depth. Not just calorie tracking but actual macros that you can manually set goals for. I only have the free version so I can only imagine how good the paid version is.
Developer response:
Hi Kayla, wow thank you so much for leaving such a lovely review, we appreciate it hugely! We love that you find Cronometer so easy to use, whilst getting the most out of all of the features as well. Please get in touch with our support team if you want any information on the Gold membership, we'll be happy to assist!
Works much faster than Fitbit and Myfitness pal. data migrates over to Fitbit so I can see it in one place if I want. has a lot more nutritional information than anything I've seen in other apps if that's something you want to track. overall I'm quite happy with the free tier, but there are some graphs locked behind a subscription that I would like to see, and the subscription is $60 per year which seems steep for access to more data that they are already collecting anyways.
Developer response:
Hey Nick! If you would like to try the Gold Subscription for a spell I recommend sending a message to [email protected] and asking for a test-drive, that way you can determine if it is worth it for you! Thanks so much and we look forward to hearing from you soon! All the best for 2025!
I LOVE THIS APP! I use it to track what food my toddler eats to make sure he is getting all his vitamins and such. I love that I can create recipes, scan food and even save items to a favorites list. I just wish that I could somehow have multiple profiles. I'd love to do this for myself and add future children (just when they're little). I love this app so much, I'd even pay to have that feature.

Thank you for providing such positive feedback. We currently do not have a family plan, however if you reach out to us at [email protected], we may have some other options you could consider :)
I am really loving this app. I really like the idea of the new AI feature. I think it would be great though if you could add items you have on hand from your fridge and pantry then you can ask the AI to generate suggestions from that. Also, the AI gives ingredients but not directions. Most of the time it looks like the suggestions are pretty easy to figure out but not always. It would be great if you could see a recipe.

Hey Amanda! We love hearing that you're loving the app and the new feature we recently released! Thanks too for the feedback about how you think we could improve it - we are always so receptive to our users' feedback and I will make sure I send this to the rest of the team :) Have a great day!
I've been using the app for about 2 months and I love it so far! I dreaded the idea of calorie counting before but I find that I don't mind it at all thanks to the convenient features Cronometer has like barcode scanning, and the ability to copy meals from previous days. I've lost 5 lbs so far just being more aware of portion sizes! I would probably invest in Gold for the recipe import feature if there was a choice to buy it for life for a reasonable price. But I'm not a fan of subscriptions.

Otherwise, we're happy that you're getting value out of the free version - there is so much to love in there too! All the best!
I got this app because my Nutritionist wanted me to track what I ate because I struggle with weight gain due to sensory issues and chrons disease but I didn't want to give her a specific list of what I ate but I wanted to track my average daily calorie intake. After seeing the nutriton stats, I fear my neurodivergent brain now sees it as a game with goals to reach. Which is good for me bc malnutrition. The way to add new foods (including fast food) is really acessible too. Love this app <3

This app is way better for food tracking than those I've used in the past. I appreciate the ability to scan and add items quickly (even if they weren't previously in the system). I also love the ability to add recipes so I can then add a whole bunch of things simultaneously! It makes good tracking so much more bearable.
Developer response:

I've been looking for something that would be an upgraded experience to what I find missing in Samsung Health for food tracking. This nails almost every aspect! (Only had a few days so far.) It will be a great fitness companion and make meal tracking souch easier! So excited to have found this! Thank you!
Developer response:

I like the app. I agree with some others that having to enter custom foods for restaurant foods is discouraging. If I make careful choices but it takes me 30+ minutes to track them, then depending on how much time I have or how tired I am, I may just give up if I can't find it in the database.
Developer response:
Hello Joy, thanks for your feedback! We try our best to add as many restaurant requests as possible to our database. If you have a restaurant you would like added to the database, please email [email protected] and let us know, we can then add it to our list so our Curation team can look into finding the nutrition info for it :)
