Reviews Summary
People generally like the Blood Donor app for scheduling donations and tracking their "blood journey," but they frequently encounter issues with the RapidPass feature, scheduling functionality, and appointment availability filtering.
I love seeing the 'blood journey' but making appointments on the app is very rough. If I select a location and change my kind, if I select the "back" button I have to start the search all over. It should take me back to the previously searched list, not back to the start of the search. That part of the app is painful, but I like the rest.
I have an appointment today for a platelet donation. I received an email to complete the "RapidPass". Since I was on my tablet, I completed it there. Last time the center could not read the pass as it was too large. So I pulled up a copy I had emailed myself on my smaller phone screen. Today I was not able to print or save the rapid pass, so I opened my phone app. It shows that I have to complete the RapidPass all over again. Why doesn't the app speak to each one another? This is not convenient
I find the app easy to use in general. Scheduling is intuitive which is very helpful. However, the rapid pass is hit and miss. I've had to restart every time. And, at the end the QR doesn't always show on the screen. I believe it's a Wi-Fi issue, which isn't always available at the donation sites. Best to do before you arrive and screenshot.
works well enough. Not too difficult to schedule or change an appointment and im glad they fixed the wifi bug. Not sure of the rewards redemption tho. While the main store isn't open til 25, Amazon cards are still redeemable, but that wasn't done correctly when I tried to do so. Hope they fix it before the 'store' opens.
Great for scheduling and questionnaire. Rewards program needs improvement. Waited for a year for the store to open and find out it was open only for one month and my points will expire before it opens again next year. Would be better not to have a rewards program than be so stingy and aggressive in avoiding redemptions.
Really amazing app not trying to sell you something very easy to use and tons of cool information. The badges are fun too. Super easy to schedule appointments. the one thing I miss is I feel like an older version of the app had a section with info about different blood types and stuff but I don't see it anymore. Other than that perfect app.
This app does what I need and then a little bit more! I love donating blood and the app makes it easy. I can find when I'm next eligible, I get little updates on the journey my blood is taking, it reminds me to take a selfie at the donation itself. It has decent tools for scheduling and locating appointments. I just wish I could get push notifications for my next eligibility date (it can be kind of hard to find in the app). It also won't help you locate drives for other agencies like Vitalent.
The app makes scheduling so easy. It provides a handy chart for blood pressure and iron levels from past visits. The most gratifying, however, is getting a notification when your donation is actually being sent out for use and seeing where it goes. Knowing that the 30 minutes you spent will help save a life is amazing! It's also hilarious to know that my blood has had a vacation in Puerto Rico while I have yet to go! 😉
Scheduling is good. When your average donor is around 50 years old, it is silly to have tiny gray text on a light gray background. There are some misfires where the app should be able to switch to the keyboard needed, but it doesn't. "Rapid Pass" doesn't save any time for donors. It just burdens them with doing everything on their own before arriving. Certainly for platelet donors it is worthless since the time the donor would spend filling out the questionnaire is useful time for the staff.
Intuitive design, slick graphics, easy to use for finding Red Cross blood drives, scheduling appointments, and completing RapidPass. A few nits to pick: it sometimes suggests appointments from earlier that day and, if you do not complete your RapidPass before the appointment, leaves the "Complete your RapidPass" button on the main screen for the whole day. Also had occasional "outages" where usual "next 14 days" search returned nothing but specific day searches worked. Beyond that, great app.
