Reviews Summary
Users have mixed feelings about the MDLIVE app, with many experiencing significant technical issues and poor customer service, while others find it convenient and helpful for accessing healthcare and scheduling appointments.
Terrible app that's constantly buggy. It will randomly decide to reject my insurance coverage and try to make me pay 100+ for my appointments when it should never be more than a small co pay. I will call customer service and I'll get connected to someone who hardly speaks English and doesn't know how to help me. I have to wait days, sometimes upwards of 2 weeks to be able to schedule an appointment. Terrible app. Needs to be fixed!
A bad app and a bad company. Unable to change insurance information, so you better hope you never change insurance. Unable to make appointments for my children as I am not primary account holder. Really simple stuff they should easily be able to do, but they don't. Doctor on demand is such a superior app and service.
Why would this app allow me to create 2 accounts if you can only have one? When one account didn't look like it created I started the process again and ended up with 2 accounts. The lady I spoke to about verifying my insurance kept saying you can't have 2 accounts. Ok so I can hear..she didn't need to keep reading the same script. She finally fixed it but not without causing me undo frustration. This seems to be a software flaw.
Updated 01/28/2025: Continues to be a great method for accessing Healthcare. It's inconvenient to get a notification by the app, by phone and by SMS at the SAME TIME. Consider stepping through the options to get a response. Original: This extremely useful and convenient. It makes it very easy to speak with a doctor or counselor. Only issue: BT headphones don't work with Android yet. :(
This app was really helpful in finding a therapist. It removed the anxiety I felt of having to find an office, make an appointment over the phone and go through all the extra steps. The available therapists on here have useful info on their profiles to help with a selection, but if you don't fit with your first choice, finding another is easy.
The app works fine. But the company sends a text prior to each appointment with a link to connect on their website. They never told me to connect through the app. So half of my visits couldn't be video because my speaker wouldn't come on and the other half of my visits the speaker worked fine so in my research to get the video working with the speaker I stumbled onto their app. And now my first visit through the app my speaker worked and it went well.
Anytime I ever try to schedule an appointment it just keeps taking my back to the home screen. No description of what the issue is or anything. Just a quick flip back to the main screen. This has happened every single time I have tried scheduling appointments. Last time I had to call in, jump through the automated hoops, explain my issue, and then finally schedule. This has happened across different phones over the last few years. Very frustrating.
Developer response:
Hey Garrett, on behalf of MDLIVE's support team, would like to sincerely apologize for the issue you've encountered while using the app. Would you be so kind to connect with us at [email protected] to troubleshoot, we'll be more than happy to help!
I really enjoy MDLive. Make sure you pike your provider because it makes a huge difference. You request appointments and the provider confirms. There are notification calls and reminders for your time, and the app provides notifications when you receive a message. Sometimes, I can't confirm an appointment that a provider requested, and the message it gives me is super vague. No ads. Connection is pretty good. Customer service could be more efficient.
Developer response:
Thank you for contacting MDLIVE and providing the positive feedback. We are glad the MDLIVE service has been made available to you and you were able to use it in a time of need.
I was able to see a Dr. very quickly on New Years Day. He was super helpful and very informed. Side note, I started the sign in process online because the text message took me there. I was already signed into the app to receive the call. It generated an issue with my sound. Once I completed the acceptance process on both, it worked. This was likely a user error on my part. Because the app was already engaged, I should have just opened the app to join instead of also clicking the link.
I have only tried one other on demand health app, and while it was fine and I thought the service itself was good, this app is much easier to navigate. I appreciate all the reminders I get (that I can opt out of, but honestly I need them!). I like that they give you an estimated wait time right off the bat, but scheduling an appointment with an existing doctor is super easy too. The psychiatrist I was matched up with has been wonderful, I only hope everyone else is as lucky as me!
