I really like this app and the information it provides. However, the most recent update changed the notification sound to a weird ticking/sucking noise and I can't find any option to change it. I'd rather not have to turn notifications off completely as it defeats half the reason I have the app.

Cool idea. However, it pops up a notification every couple of minutes just to let me know that notifications are turned on. This is extremely annoying and completely unnecessary. The only way to get it to stop is to disable notifications, defeating the entire purpose of the app. This is the only app I've ever seen behave this way. Please fix this bug so I can use the app for incident notifications only. Then it will get 5 stars.

This app has been great, and I have access to my local information in a timely manner. The newest update changed the notification sound. It's now a very disturbing/alarming sound that makes you panic. As another put it, it sounds like a bomb counting down. It took me a few days to figure out what was causing it. I was going crazy till I read a review about the same sound. PLEASE CHANGE THE NOTIFICATION SOUND BACK TO WHAT IT WAS.

Excellent app. Up to the minute, customizable notifications by incident type and area. The only negative is you can't tailor the notifications to an area smaller than a county. For instance, if I only want notifications for Simi Valley I have to select all of Ventura County then manually scan through the ones that are close to home. Aside from that I love the app and it will be very useful when an emergency happens close to home and every minute counts.

Updating my review: I really love this app! Except for the newest update on February 5, 2025, the new notification sound is very annoying it sounds like a ticking time bomb. Please change it. 😉 I would give 5 stars, but when I got a new phone Revvl 5G it stopped giving me notifications. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, but it's still not working.

Developer response:

Karen- Some device manufacturers split the ring and notification channel which breaks the link to the embedded notification soundfile. Please launch your Settings app and select PulsePoint under 'Apps & notifications'. Under 'Storage', click 'Clear data' and then relaunch PulsePoint.

Great app. Notifications sometimes go on a break despite battery settings on unrestricted, but otherwise, very informative. Also like the fact you can see the number of units dispatched, which provides a better idea of how serious an incident may be. I had no idea my county has as many incidents daily as it does. Also like the My feed option which you can build a perimeter or path of county incidents to keep you informed on a trip. Stay safe out here.

Please add the ability to change the notification sound. Sometimes the app defaults to your phone's default notification sound and the only way to fix it is by reinsreinstalling the app. Currently, it switched to a tick tock tick tock tick tock sound. If I had the option to change the notification sound, this constant issue wouldn't be a problem.

Pulse Point in my opinion is auseful app. I like to know what and or where the EMS are going and where they've been...I live close to a Medical Center, so sirens are always going on...yes I must confess that I am curious. I have received 2 alerts that CPR is urgently needed, my husband is also subscribed to Pulse Point and has responded to an alert close by...help was already on scene. As with anything there are occasional glitches, but overall it is an excellent app. IMO.

It's good but I have to keep re opening the app every minute to listen to the audio. It just stops even though you have it on. Quite annoying. Especially now when there is a fire bear by with evacuation and you trying to listen to stay updated on situation.

This has the potential to be a 5-star app, but the notifications are notoriously buggy. Many times, it will change what sound it plays (or not play a sound at all and just vibrate). Other times, it will send a notification 10-15 minutes after the incident was generated (even with a full connection). A reinstall usually fixes the sound problems, but so far I have not found a fix for the delayed notification.
