Review Summary
Overall, people really like the Yuka - Food & Cosmetic Scanner app for its ease of use and transparency in helping make informed choices about food and cosmetic products based on ingredients and health ratings, but some users report issues with occasional inaccuracies in listings, inconsistent ratings, and scanning glitches.
Excellent! See what you're eating! Greatly exceeds my expectations. Simple to use. Scan the bar code of any food item - it quickly provides a score with a breakdown of the good and bad. I quickly scanned most of the things in my pantry used regularly and immediately identified 3 or 4 things to eliminate/reduce/replace in my diet. Some scores are obvious - butter is bad with high fat, calories. But, my "healthy" non-butter spread was much worse! It suggests healthier alternatives. Great app!
It's a great app! Free version. The work behind the scenes saves me the time from having to do the research. There's a breakdown of ingredients and explain the risk factors. They provide healthier alternatives as well. No ads, a plus! I look forward to seeing more products added. For a small yearly subscription, there's more. Thank you, Yuka Team!
I use this app every day! it's the most useful app I've ever used. the free version is perfect but I paid a bit and plan on paying more next time I renew since it's allowed to be my choice and they do not sell out! they are sticking with honesty reports of the food and beauty and no company can buy a better rating. I don't mind sugar or fatty foods but I don't want toxic ingredients! this app had helped me improve my health and figure put why I keep getting sick and having migraines.
Overall all great app and very eye-opening the chemicals in our foods. One thing I would suggest is the ability to see what grocery stores carry the products listed under the (alternative) Recommendations, or even a filter where I can select only recommendations that are available at a particular grocery store. That would be very helpful as I don't know if my store carries all the ones that are listed.

Thank you for your feedback! We will certainly take this into consideration for the future!
Works great. Seems to be missing on some localized items but has the most major brand names. I wish there were a way to set certain parameters because it will red flag certain things that have too high of caffeine content or caloric levels when there are no alternatives that are available or reasonably accessible. Usually, when I'm actively trying to compare a few different items at the store, I end up picking the lesser of the evils.
Excellent app!! I scan everything at the supermarket, in my pantry, all of my cosmetics etc. It's very helpful for making informed decisions while shopping for clean, healthy items, and to know which products to avoid. It's easy to use, and i actually find it to be fun~ especially the beep sound when you scan a barcode lol. I haven't purchased the premium yet, and I don't know if I will, because the free version has been great π Highly recommend!!
Yuka's a great app, even though it has its issues sometimes concerning inconsistent ratings for certain ingredients, although I haven't found this to be a huge issue. Overall, the app allows you to check to see what ingredients in your products may/may not be harming you and why, which is honestly difficult to find out otherwise. The app is also free and rates ingredients (and products) based off of European Regulatory standards and International agencies. Amazing and there's no ads.
I love how transparent this app is. It shows you every ingredient in every product or food. Also lists exactly what the harmful additives are and why they are bad. Explains what the additives are used for. every source is quoted, and I really look forward to the better recommendations. I feel I can make informed decisions about what I am putting on my body and in my body. I am healthier because of this app.
This app can be an amazing tool for improving overall health. The biggest problem it faces, however, is that the listings for many items are just plain inaccurate. Many times I have found something that is highly rated, but is missing ingredients that are in the product. Some of these missing ingredients would change the grade drastically. There needs to be a much better monitoring of the submissions in order for this app to succeed and not turn into false advertising products saying they aren't

Hello Chris, thank you for your feedback! Could you please come back to me by email at [email protected] with more details? This way I will be able to verify if there is an issue that needs to be fixed on our end, or, if the information is correct, to give you explanations on the products' analysis! :)
Awesome tool! Just make sure you take in all the info. For instance, I looked up my favorite mayo and it has a very bad rating for being fatty, salty and high in calories. (Which is not a concern TBH) It has two additives, one was green: perfectly safe, the other was yellow: not great but probably ok in small portions. I looked at the suggested alternative with higher scores and they were full of extra additives that were yellow and beyond. Ignore the score & look at the facts.

Thanks for your review Ash! To offer more information, the evaluation is based on 3 criteria: 1. The nutritional quality attributes a possible 60% of the score (calories, sugar, salt, saturated fats, protein, fiber, fruits and vegetables) 2. Additives represent 30% 3. The organic nature represents 10%. For more info, email us at [email protected]!
