Review Summary
People generally like the Step Counter - Pedometer app for its accuracy, ease of use, and motivational features, though many complain about intrusive ads, pop-ups, and occasional technical issues like the app stopping or not counting steps correctly.
Incredibly annoying interface. I love that it always is on, BUT when i try to open the app to see records etc, there are so many annoying pop-up windows that are not even ADS. They are a dliberate part of the app but they go on and on. Every time you close one, another opens, so you have no control or ability to see the information you are actually interested in. This renders the app pretty much entirely useless
Developer response:

Update 12/31/2024 - For New Year's Eve I up y morning walk to 10,000 steps. I tried this app as an alternative to the step counter that came with my phone - Samsung Health. I much prefer this app. The Samsung app is to "connected" with everything else. I prefer not to share everything I do with all these connections that I have no control over or even who they are. ... and I hear there's a chance the old "unsmart" flip-phones may become available again. Where does the line form for them? π€
when I first downloaded this app I loved it. That was a little more than a week ago. Now for some reason it isn't counting mmy steps on a regular basis. I checked my steps and the went for a walk. Checked my steps when I got home and it didn't record any new steps. I'm really disappointed because I like everything that the app does. Hopefully it's just a bug that will get fixed.
Developer response:
Hi Sandy, sorry for the inconvenience caused. Step Counter may be forcibly stopped due to system limitations. Please click the "How to fix..." option on the settings page. Also, please make sure not to clear the app running in the background. We hope this helps.π
"I've been using this step counter app for a while now, and I must say it's absolutely fantastic! Itβs incredibly accurate in tracking steps, and the clean interface makes it easy to navigate. The daily goals and progress tracking features keep me motivated to stay active, and I love the real-time updates. Itβs also lightweight, so it doesnβt drain my phone battery. Whether you're a fitness enthusiast or just looking to get more

I try so many other apps but this is different, I have a good time using this app. The accuracy is better than expected and the one thing I notice is when driving a vehicle I think it's very good app because it doesn't count the steps on moving vehicle and only the steps when holding the phone and I really love it. Overall, I can recommend this app tracking your steps progression.
Developer response:
Hi Michael, thank you for your kind feedback! We're thrilled to hear you enjoy using the app and find it helpful for tracking your steps. Your positive experience and recommendation mean a lot to us. If you have any suggestions for further improvements, feel free to share them with us.
I really like this app! My only fault with it is the water tracker. I don't used the same sized cup every time and I actually drink more out of a bottle then anything else so it's not really practical because to be able to actually track your water intake you need to change the cup size everytime you drink a different sized drink.
Developer response:
Hi K, thank you for your feedback! We're glad you enjoy the app. We understand the water tracker's current setup may not be practical for your needs, especially when using different cup or bottle sizes. Weβll consider adding more flexibility to make tracking easier. Your input is valuable, and we appreciate your support!π
Like the app for the most part, but is inaccurate in converting the steps into miles. For instance I had 15,381 steps and it calculated to 5.85 miles when it was supposed to over 6.4 miles accordingly to the hiking trail and other apps. Sounds a bit tedious, but when you put in the hard work you expect accurate calculations .
Developer response:
Hi,dear user, thank you for your feedback! The distance calculation is based on your step length. Please check if your stride length is set correctly by going to the "Settings" page, clicking on "More," and selecting "Height / Step length" to edit. This should improve the accuracy of the distance calculation.
So far this app hits all the areas I need help in and unlike the app I just left, it allows me to see my score without locking me out because I don't open the constant ads. Two weeks later I had an opportunity to walk the fairgrounds. Unfortunately this app slept the whole day and recorded zero steps. I restarted my phone and checked notifications but sadly all data was not recorded.
Developer response:
Hi John, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Certain devices or security apps may force stop the app. To resolve this issue, please select the "How to fix..." option on the settings page. Additionally, please do not clear the app from your background processes. Best wishes!
This app had an insane amount of pop ups. Even after paying to remove the ads, every time I open the app there is a new pop up about something. Achievements, suggestions, reminders. I don't care, I just want to see how many steps I've walked. I'm tired of having to exit out of pop ups.
Developer response:
Hi Ivan, thank you for your feedback, and we apologize for the inconvenience caused by the pop-ups. We're actively working on improvements to reduce notifications and enhance your experience. Your input is valuable, and we appreciate your patience as we make these changes!
The step counter works, just like any other comparable app. However, whenever I click to see my step count report, a jarring video ad blasts sound. I understand that banner ads may be necessary to monetize the app, but it's really annoying to deal with video ads that are not muted by default. Edit: The developers seem to want me to mute all media on my phone, just so I can use their app. Annoying video ads won't lead to click-throughs anyway, so why not mute them by default in the app?
Developer response:
Hi Oliver, we apologize for the misunderstanding. Our suggestion was to click the mute button directly on the video ads to reduce the disturbance. We are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience and will work hard to improve the app. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we strive to create a better experience for you.π
