Review Summary
Most users are dissatisfied with Google Fit: Activity Tracking due to frequent syncing issues, inaccurate data tracking, and various glitches, despite a few positive comments about its simplicity and the ability to manage data from other apps.
I understand this app is going away pretty soon, but recently, it's malfunctioning too often. I tracked 100 minutes dancing last night, stopped at 22:15. Unfortunately something is still running in the background, as it tells me that I've been dancing for 19 hours 23 minutes. I deleted the erroneous activity multiple times yet it's still "tracking", even after I uninstalled & reinstalled. Plus it doesn't work w/ MyFitnessPal well.
I have a Samsung Galaxy watch 4 and this app keeps randomly stops receiving the steps data from it from time to time. It will be fine for a few weeks then, suddenly, no data for a few days. The watch is still recording the steps, but the app won't. And there's apparently no way to refresh or reactivate the connection. My health insurance has a deductible reduction thru mobile health consumer for enough steps in a year, and this app keeps ruining that for me😥
I like that I am able to link this to my other accounts for credit on my steps. However, the step tracker is not accurate. I use a smart watch, and there have been variances of several thousand steps missing on this app. I even have the exact same app on my watch, and it will still be off by several thousand steps. I am aware that I am able to add workouts, but when it's not feasible with my schedule and I shouldn't have to take time every day to correct their inaccuracies.
I just want to say, so far, outstanding. I have seen Fitbit charge a crazy price for their "premium" services when it's mostly the same as this app! I can manage my Fitbit data through here with the fit to fit app, though that app still needs help. This app only needs the ability to sync data between third party apps possible! Add that, and possibly a mental health section as well, since you have meditation and whatnot, why don't we add an actual journal? Or a health journal? Just an idea.
Wow so sad, the app doesn't work on a pixel 2. Went on a run, and the app killed 50% of my battery and did not track the run. Yes the GPS and all permissions were allowed. Also somehow managed to lose the log from the previous run. Basically couldn't be worse. 5 years later no improvements and still horrible. Classic Google.
Mostly enjoy, but now I'm confused. My account has been linked to my fitness apps since February and for some reason it no longer tracks any of them. They are synced and I updated, so now I'm looking at multiples. If this doesn't end up fixing I'll just end up getting rid of this cause it was supposed to be a catch all which is clearly not catching any.
I'm using Samsung watch with Samsung Health for tracking steps, that is linked through Health Connect with Google Fit. But for some absolutely ridiculous reason it only syncs data at 23:59 every day. What's the point... To sync another app and not to see the data here. The biggest problem is, in the settings I can clearly see the data gets accessed every time you open the app, so Fit has the data all the time. It just doesn't show them!!? This also breaks integration with other apps. Stupid
It seems good by itself, but for the life of me, it absolutely hates My Fitness Pal. I've tried getting it to sync multiple times now and it keeps saying they are connected, but nothing happens. If I enter something on My Fitness Pal, nothing shows up the fit. At all. I have to have MyFitnessPal for a trainer I have and I just wanted to see if it would sync my stuff for convenience. I guess now I just have to manually enter stuff in both or just not use fit. :(
Good app, but available activities are too limited (and many are redundant). Please add "Vertical Climber(ing)" to the list of activities that can be tracked. This is NOT the same thing as a stair climber. I am referring to fitness machines such as the VersaClimber, MaxiClimber XL, CLMBR 2.0, etc. These are intense strength and cardio workouts which work both the upper and lower body, and it is not comparable to any other activity currently listed in the Fit app. Thank you (Feedback sent in app)
I only use this app for weight tracking. In general I like it but it seems to insist on specific date boundaries. Like I can see the 3 months from January through March, but I can't look at December through February. If there is a way to adjust this, it's well hidden. But it's helping me lose weight so I am not griping too much.
