Review Summary
Most users are unhappy with MyFitnessPal: Calorie Counter due to the removal of previously free features like the barcode scanner, persistent syncing issues with fitness devices, and the prevalence of intrusive ads and bugs that detract from the overall usability and convenience of the app.
Altering a serving size of a previously logged food makes linked apps (Fitbit/MyFitnessPal on pixel watch) lose the meal entirely. No ability to reuse a past entry (say, eating leftovers). App won't update on watch, now it is completely broken and seems unfixable. App has promise, but way too many annoyances, costs me far too much time every day. Update: watch version of app and Fitbit seeing even less information transferred from the myfitness app on the phone. Maybe 80% of foods work. :(

Thank you for taking a minute to share your great suggestion with us! We will definitely consider adding it for a future update.
Recently came back to this app after switching to a Samsung watch from Fitbit. I had been using LoseIt for years (LOVED IT!!!) but it's not compatible with new watch. I hate it here! Barcode scan behind a paywall? It's way too clunky (way too many clicks to do a simple input), cluttered and not new user friendly. Gotta find another solution. This ain't it.

I have used this app for nearly a decade. It has been a great resource. Now, after years of being free, the bar code logging feature has been put behind a paywall. This isn't just an inconvenience that makes the base service much less usable, it likely will fundamentally undermine the usefulness of the feature at all, because it shwinks the community of people who are contributing to the catalogue, adding things that aren't already there. Change it back and find a better reason to upgrade.

Idk what was wrong but after using my Google account to sing up the app just didn't work. Immediately after sign up or log in (after clearing all data) it would take me to the home page, maybe? It was completely blank but to had the tabs at the bottom and nothing did anything. Then, if I tied to close and reopen, it would stay on the loading screen forever (at least a min). I'm sure I got some janky version but it's literally not usable for me right now. I also tried to reinstall it.

Use to be useful, and convenient. now for some reason I have to relogin every time I reopen the app after not opening it for a couple hours. What's going on? If this doesn't get fixed I'm just gonna delete it and find a different app. Reply: I found my problem on your list of known problems so it doesn't seem like a "new bug".

Simple to use, tracks food if you manually enter it. But now, you can't scan in food with bar codes, so I'm adjusting my rating down. Edit: Another update focused exclusively on making the app WORSE, so I'm removing yet another star. It forced me to log in, which deleted all of my weigh ins, recipes, foods, and goals. Also there's now full screen ads you have to wait to finish when you use the app. Why aren't any updates focused on making the app better?

App is running worse & worse, day by day. This app used to be the best. I recently installed MFP because I started a serious weight loss goal. At first it was working perfectly. I'm familiar with MFP because I had used it 5 years ago to lose weight & it 100% helped me reach my goal then. Now, the app is VERY unreliable. It never picks up my steps from my fitness watch or other apps like Map My Fitness. It's adding exercises on days I've done zero (couch potato days). Very, very unreliable.

I have really enjoyed using the app for the last few months, but this recent update has caused some issues. It won't allow me to change goals sometimes. Won't allow me to add or remove foods from categories ( breakfast, lunch, dinner etc). Also says I haven't accumulated any steps. Now in the last week it has kicked me out a couple time, and today it won't let me log back in at all. Hopefully it will get fixed.

I've used the app off and on since around 2011. At the time they had basically every feature of significance that they have now for free. I don't mind a premium subscription model, but the ads are so big and intrusive at free tier that it ruins the experience. I've moved to Lose It! for its cleaner baseline experience, and virtually no ads at the free tier other than invites to their premium service.

Kind of sucks tbh. I can't edit anything. There is no way to change an entry if you make a mistake. I logged dinner after midnight and the app posted this dinner to the next evening instead of the dinner earlier in the day. There is no way to change or fix this. I'm giving this app until the end of the week then I am deleting it. I need it to work around my schedule. Update: Email sent but it's not a bug. It's poor design. Update: I can't add my fitness tracker either.
