Review Summary
People have mixed opinions about the Planet Fitness Workouts app, with many users pointing out significant issues such as slow performance, difficulties with basic functionalities like check-ins and membership management, inaccuracies in the crowd meter, and poor data tracking, while others appreciate its workout videos and progress tracking capabilities.
When it works, the app works fine enough. I'd rather not get notifications for promotions but whatever. My biggest criticism is that the app is very, very slow. I often have to force stop the app and restart it just for it to display the QR code for checking in. It's so slow and unreliable in fact that I usually end up using my phone number to check in and I don't bother with the app. I use a different app to figure out workouts because of the sheer slowness.

Hi there, to boost the performance of the PF app, try connecting your device to WiFi.
Worst design for an app. They make it 100 times harder to change home club locations or to cancel memberships. Aside from creating an account, everything else is very inconvenient and terrible regarding their app and website. They must be making this difficult for their own benefit. To cancel? You have to go in person. Already moved? LOL guess you're sending a letter in the mail. What? So pointless.

Thank you for the feedback, Mitchell as we are always looking for ways to improve the PF App!
This app has a few problems. For one, the crowd meter on the dashboard isn't always the same as when you click into club details. I never really know which one is accurate. Also, the crowd meter doesn't do a great job of indicating how full the gym actually is. When it shows only 2 bars (which looks like it would mean the gym is relatively empty), the free weights are already pretty saturated. They need to calibrate it badly.

I love all the helpful sources that the app provides! If you need some tips on how to perform a certain exercise or just need some quick tips, the app has got you covered! You can track all your progress, as well as see how many check-ins and a crowd meter of your home club, to see how busy it is at all times. Plus ALL the amazing Perks and benefits of being a Planet Fitness memeber all at your finger tips!

We are happy to hear that you are loving the PF App. Thanks for the review!
Planet Fitness sux for forcing me to use this app!!! Can no longer check in at desk or with fob...or bring along a guest unless they download the app!!! I don't take my phone into the facility to workout...i can't carry my phone around while doing serious workouts. This app and lack of onsite customer service after years and years of membership really pisses me off.

You're more than welcome to check in via your phone number, driver's license, or however your home club allows!
It's a great companion app to the membership. I really like the online workout videos! I would like to suggest (1) the ability to save certain workouts (in case I want to make them a regular part of a routine), (2) the ability to follow specific trainers, and (3) adding workouts for the rowing machine. I think the trainers should put up an series of 45-60 min OTF-like workouts on the app. In any case, I enjoy using this app.

Thanks for supporting the PF App! Stay tuned for more updates and improvements.
You can enter workout data from machines, which is good. But if you want to export the data to excel so you can summarize it or analyze it, nope. You can only export check in dates and times and only as a pdf. What? You can enter data for a treadmill, elliptical, etc. But can't record crunches, benchpress, curls, etc in the app. But you can record "other" activities like ice skating, hockey, dancing, basketball?! What x2? Oh, and PF Equipment doesn't connect to Android watches? What x 3?

Why does this app need to take screen brightness hostage? I absolutely don't need to be blinded by having this app automatically send the brightness all the way up. Especially while having a mostly bright white background. If you want to leave the app open while doing a workout, that extra extra extra bright screen is killing your phones battery exponentially faster.

The app continues to ask for an update on my backup payment, and I have completed the request over five times. I get a "successfully notification," but it never changes. No one has helped correct this issue, and the club says the need to swipe my credit card to add as a backup payment. What???!!
Developer response:
We're sorry you're having trouble with the PF App. Please update your PF app to the latest version to fix this bug.
I really like everything at my finger tips. I've been with PF for 10+ years and seen the changes and improvements, I'm never disappointed! I'm just really tapping into the workouts in the app! I appreciate them because I found myself doing the short workouts while I'm cooking like the standing core workouts are perfect! I love going to the gym...it keeps me motivated to get up and out in the morning!
