Review Summary
Users generally like MacroFactor - Macro Tracker, praising its effectiveness, ease of use, and breadth of features for nutrition and weight management, though some find it expensive and report issues with the food database, usability, and compatibility with other devices.
Edit: 5 stars for annual discount...was my only complaint before. This is without a doubt, the BEST science based nutrition coaching app that exists. I've tried many and this one is the best by a landslide. I desperately want to give it 5 stars. I REALLY do. But the ONE and ONLY ONE downside to MacroFactor is the price of the subscription. I've been using it for months to reach my goal weight and I can't justify the cost anymore. At $12 per month, the cost is just too high.
Developer response:
Thanks for the great praise! When using the annual subscription option the monthly cost equivalent is $5.99. To switch, cancel the current subscription in your Google Play account, and when it expires the app will present all three options again, annual, semiannual, and monthly.
Great app in terms of purpose and results but the usability leaves something to be desired. Cons: - search in their database is so finicky and unreliable, you have to find the right order and combination of words to find what you're looking for. Probably the single most frustrating thing about this app. - layout is not always intuitive and some screens seem superfluous/unnecessary - no ability to manually trigger syncing with health connect - scanning nutrition labels takes forever
Developer response:
Thanks for your feedback!
So the app itself is phenomenal. HOWEVER, I'm using the pixel 6 and I have an issue getting the app to open. It works only about 30% of the time which affects my ability to track as when I'm opening the damn app, I have to restart it multiple times. I often just give up and say I'll track later and then forget to do it. I've re-installed the app, factory reset my phone, nothing works.

We can definitely take a look at this for you! Please reach out to our support team either through the in-app "contact us" button or by emailing [email protected]
It's a killer app. I've already lost 5 pounds on less than a months time. Very intuitive and by far the best macro tracker, even compared to MyFitnessPal. The AI to type in things makes life convenient too. Suggestion 8/28/24: It would be great if Ai describe can do multiple items at once. Example: 4 oz of chicken breast , 100 G of rice , 100 G of broccoli. " Hopefully shouldn't be too difficult to make that update!
Developer response:
Thanks, Jason! Glad you're enjoying it! Also...I think you should just be able to say "20 blueberries" or "80 grams of old fashioned oats" into AI describe and get appropriate entries back. Give it a shot!
Genius application! But manual product search is horrible. I barely can find something even knowing precisely product name/brand, and what is easily searchable in multiple other apps like fatsecret, yazio, foodvisor etc. Which is so disappointing because I really want to stick to this app, but absence of fast and convenient manual search is a no for me. Really, really, really want to use it again because besides absolutely daunting search it's a GREAT tracker (and not just a tracker).
Lowering my review from 5 to 3 stars after having been slowly losing weight over the last 1-2 months. There seems to be something wrong with the algorithm or it's not aggressive enough. If I'm trying to gain weight the app should be updating my calories in a timely manner. I feel like I've wasted the last 2 months eating less than what I should have been. I have increased the gain rate in the app to hopefully counter this.

We appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. We will look into this further!
I have tried a lot of calorie tracking and weight monitoring apps MacroFactor is the only one that actually personalizes your calorie intake to your weight goal whether you want it to go up or down. A one year subscription is less than half the cost of a month with a personal trainer and highly worth it. I forgot to mention you can enter your daily calories or copy from the previous day incredibly fast and there are no ads or random blog posts to clutter the app. Give it a try!
If my progress is too fast or too slow for my liking, I can adjust it and it adjust the calories, as long as I gave it some consistent feedback it knows what I need for my goals. Also, it's nice that I don't need to be logging every day for it to calibrate my calories or macros. The app has a period tracker, too, which is so nice and prevented me from having to get another app.
Incredible app! I have been using it for 3 weeks now and I use all of the primary features. It is easy to track my macros, and the algorithm is becoming more and more accurate as I use it. I am already down 10lbs and I am feeling incredible. There are tons of helpful features, explanatory tutorials, and charts and graphs that help me visualize my progress. The averages also make me feel like if I have a bad day, I have not lost the weight loss war, just a battle, and that's okay

We are so glad you are loving the features that the app has to offer!
The app itself is a 4 out of 5. Probably, the best diet management app out there, but also quite a challenge to navigate. That said, I recently ran into issues with the recipe sharing links not working at all. The support handling of it was atrocious. Basically, just blaming my browser config (which is default Chrome on Android) with vague "look in your settings" guidance. They finally offered a solution in the end, requiring me to copy the link into Keep in order to tap it.
