This white noise app is great. I've used it every single night, for many years now. I used to wake up frequently, living in an apartment complex with people making noise at all hours of the night, or in hotels while traveling. With the app, I no longer get disturbed by noisy neighbors. Even in the office or airport I put in my earbuds and drown out people's conversations. You can mix your own sounds and can adjust the tone, speed, position and volume of each component. It's fantastic!
I wrote my initial review in 2019. Now, however, the app frequently stops for no reason. I work nights and rely on the noise to sleep. When it stops, I wake up and then have a hard time getting back to sleep. I used to love the app, but now I'm looking for a more reliable one. 2019- It has a wide variety of background noises and I have yet to have it crash. Very good deal for the price.
I've used this for years....but the latest update now doesn't allow my actual alarm to sound. The settings are correct, as they've always been, to allow break in alarm sounds....but it's broken. 2 days of almost not waking up in time and thinking it was the alarm app, but it works fine when white noise isn't active, so, this is the culprit. C'mon guys ...pls fix this! I don't wanna find another app. 😭😭😭
This has been my go-to white noise app for years and I have recommended it to to numerous people. Unfortunately ever since the last update, the app will crash in the middle of the night and the sudden stoppage of sound often wakes me up. It seems to happen just about every night. And it doesn't seem like it's shutting down at the same time, sometimes it's two hours after I start it, other times I'll jolt awake at 3 or 4am to the sudden absence of sound. Please fix the constant crashes!!
The sound just randomly turns off in the middle of the night causing me to wake up. It looks like it may have stopped. The audio randomly stutters every now and then. Also there is an annoying post card thing that sometimes pops up when I open the app. For an app that is supposed to offer sound therapy, they sure managed to make it as ANNOYING as possible.
Alarm periodically craps out. I've used this for years, BUT I do have to use a back-up alarm. Periodically, the white noise will turn off in the middle of the night for no reason, and once in a while the alarms won't work...until you wake up, pick up the phone to figure out how you managed to oversleep....and THEN the alarm will ecide to go off. The white noise is great, but don't trust the alarm settings
I like the ability to combine more than one type of noise. [Update: I've been using this app nightly for at least 5 years (maybe 7 or 8?), and it's really good.] I especially like the dimming feature (*slide finger up or down to make it brighter or dimmer). Also, the ability to combine sounds is excellent. I usually use some sort of heavy rain, fan, and a shower... something like that.
The UI needs improvement, it feels like every tab was made independently from each other. Navigation can be a bit confusing. An example is if you switch from mixes to sounds, it stops playing the mix. I haven't played around with things too much, but it looks like there isn't an option to fade off. Okay, now that my criticisms are out of the way, this app is great. I would list everything off that I liked, but I literally don't have any room left in this review. I'll update this review later.
Update 3/2023 : Major problem with my alarms not going off at the correct time. Currently they are going off about 30+ mins ahead of the set time. Using a pixel 7. Will rate 5 stars again soon as this is fixed. Using the alarms is one of the main reasons I use this app. Love it. Can set alarms, can set when sounds should end. Great for when traveling and don't have my fan like at my bedroom. Great app
Would love to have a separate volume control from the main media volume setting (so I can mix in music or other media at different proportions) but more importantly it REALLY needs to A) obey global screen rotate setting and B) not disallow phone lock: don't need to wake up in the middle of the night to realize I've rolled onto my phone and changed everything around. Otherwise, super great app, love the variety of tracks and the super-detailed balancing and mixing options. Helps me sleep!!!!!
