Review Summary
Users generally dislike the Oscar Health app due to numerous technical issues such as login problems, constant glitches, poor step tracking synchronization with Google Fit, unresponsive messaging system, and overall frustrating user experience.
Very frustrating user experience. I can't login efficiently. The login opens a browser within the app. If you have MFA enabled, which uses Google Authenticator(GA), the app will ask you for the authentication code. To get the code you need to switch to the GA app. Once you switch back to Oscar, it takes you back to the beginning of the login process. Yay for infinite loops. 😠
One of the worst apps ever. It constantly glitches, links don't work, sending a message involves restarting the app. It's insanely frustrating. In addition, the provider lists are massively out of date and basically useless. Plus, no bug report feature or way to report any of these problems to the programmers. I hate having to use it. It needs a massive overhaul. I'm getting different insurance as soon as possible and one large reason for that is this app.
The app is useful for things like viewing your ID card or requesting virtual urgent care. Concierge is 50/50 in terms of helpful answers. Unfortunately though, the step tracking abysmal. I had two weeks straight where my steps were not recorded at all, the steps don't always match what is recorded in Google fit, and the goals seem to change at random. I haven't made my step goal in 2 weeks, haven't even come close, and yet it doubled overnight. Now it's impossible, which is pretty discouraging.
1. Steps app is ridiculous. It sets up steps far higher than reasonable so if you ever achieve a goal it adds 2000 steps the next day - yet it never goes down. This is actually dangerous for many elderly and disabled people. 2. Fingerprint scan takes forever - unlike other apps. 3. The whole app is UN-intuitive, and takes many steps to get where you need - if you can find it at all. 4. They never seem to address issues and complaints.
This app used to work very well. Now it's horrible. And the help team at oscar never really has any idea how to fix it. The app is constantly getting disconnected from Google Fit, even tho Google Fit says that Oscar is connected to it. My steps are hardly ever recorded. It's really irritating. I've lost count of how many times I've uninstalled and reinstalled this app. So annoying.
A bit frustrating. When looking for doctors that they provide, none of the ones I called even knew what Oscar was and were pretty much just sending me around in a circle. Some of the listing weren't even pertaining to what I was looking for. Icing on the cake is the consistent auto logging turning off. Every time I open the app I have to turn it back on just about. Very annoying. Love the chat with a rep tho. That's extremely helpful sometimes...
Thanks! The issue with the step synching has been resolved and has been working for well for a few weeks now. Unfortunately, now the app is glitching in a different way. I keep getting a message: "Oops something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes". It is like the app cannot connect to the server(s). I've cleared the cache and uninstalled/reinstalled the app. This doesn't happen when I log in to the hioscar site. Hopefully this will get resolved soon.
Developer response:
Hi, we apologize for the inconvenience. The Google Fit issue should be resolved with the fix being in our Android app version 5.18.0 or later. If you are still seeing issues syncing steps our Concierge team can help with your rewards.
Update: the steps synch now! I do wish they'd allow Samsung fit or other fitness apps outside of Google fit but the app works as advertised :) -------- The app will not sync with Google Fit no matter how many fixes I try. Basically all android users can't get the perks for counting steps unless Oscar fixes this issue or maybe allow it to sync to different health apps like Samsung Health. This is incredibly annoying because I was actually excited for this feature and could use the reward.
Developer response:
We’re sorry for any issues you have experienced syncing your steps. We’re happy to let you know that this has since been resolved. We’ve added bug fixes in our latest release to the Steps feature and the overall app experience. We understand how important Steps is for our members and appreciate your patience as we worked to resolve this issue
This app does not work properly. Also, I see that there are no responses to any of the complaints either. When Oscar was new, everything was great! But as time goes by, they are just another typical health insurance. They no longer stand out as one I would fight to keep. No more personalization, no more help at your fingertips. I will change soon due to a serious loss of respect and comfort I had for them. Nothing makes them any better.
My app gets updated & now it tries to open itself two times at the same time, so it errors out. I've uninstalled & reinstalled the app and it's still doing this. So frustrating. I sure as heck don't want to call in for help, because I know that won't go anywhere. The employees are super nice but only as good as your training and that's not saying much. I will most likely be switching insurance companies next year because of this. I have other important info on there I can't obtain. FRUSTRATED
