Review Summary
Users generally have mixed opinions about the MyChart app; while they appreciate its comprehensive organization of medical information, ease of use, and ability to communicate with healthcare providers, many users report significant frustration with technical glitches, slow performance, frequent crashes, and limited functionality for scheduling appointments.
This patient portal platform is excellent and my favorite one out of all the ones I've used so far, and there's been a bunch. It's designed extremely well, which makes it very easy for anyone to use. It's literally self-explanatory. I really appreciate that you have the ability to reply to messages all the time. I have another patient portal where you can only reply if it gives you the option, which it doesn't always. I can communicate with all the doctors and medical staff that I need to.

It certainly makes communication with my doctors and the staff much easier and with so much less hassle. I can even cancel, reschedule, and even schedule certain appointments without having to call in. Makes handling a complicated health situation much easier and with far fewer headaches. One of the best health management apps I've seen!

Previous updates have ruined this app. You can no longer schedule appointments for any 'regular' appt. Only for scans, MRI, ultrasounds, mammogram, etc. Extremely unhelpful! Also, the alerts don't come through anymore informing you of upcoming appointments, messages, or test results. These were the BEST features of this app, and now they're gone and/or don't work. They only got 2 stars because I can still see my test results, albeit in the most chaotic way. But that's how it's always been.

I have to be honest, I'm not great with technology. My doctor's had told me about my chart for years and I always brushed it off. I prefer old fashioned phone calls to hear a human voice. But once I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, I had a lot more questions, I needed more help. MyChart is amazing at organizing my meds, refills, appointments, etc. I get everything I need in one spot. Seeing my test results helps me ask informed questions. Refills are a snap.

Good for necessary stuff but the bells and whistles don't work. Mobile check in doesn't work. Mobile nearby check in doesn't work. Can't change your picture. Messaging generally works. Payments generally work. Switching between services generally works. It's good to review up coming appointments and sometimes to schedule an appointment.

I seemed to have lost a lot of my information because I could not log in. Everytime I tried to log in, I would get a message about try again password or log in does not work. I had the same passwords for all accounts, and I ended up having to uninstall and reinstall the app and change the password. After doing that, I seemed to have lost 3 accounts. It worked fine until this last update

The app does everything it should and more. Unfortunately, the "more" is repetitive administrivia that takes hours every month out of one's limited functional hours if one is disabled and seeing multiple appointments every week. But it doesn't save time with your providers, either. They still text and call reminders and ask you most of the same questions as the app on check in. I can tell the medical receptionist nothing has changed since my last visit -- why not a button to that effect?

I am not sure where the issue originates but for the last week or so, I am unable to use the app because it either crashes on login (any linked healthcare epic account) or soon after logging in. I've looked at my battery settings and permissions but nothing jumps out. I've uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled. Uninstalled, shut down, reinstalled and the issue persists. Hoping it's a known bug and will be fixed at some point.
Developer response:
We're sorry about that. We're currently investigating an issue that sounds like what you're seeing and will have a fix released soon. You can try the website version of MyChart in the meantime; find your organization's login page from https://www.mychart.org/Login/Signup. I actually like the app overall but am rating it a 1 to hopefully get some eyes on a security concern. By default, the app prevents taking screenshots to protect user info, and screenshots can be enabled in the settings, which is great! Providing the option to users is always the best choice. However, there's no secondary auth required to enable them. Which makes it sort of pointless to block screenshots if the block is easily removed. Suggested fix is to require 2fa to toggle the setting.
Developer response:
Thank you for the review! Many organizations require 2FA to log in, so we don't require it again for changes to settings. We disable the setting by default primarily to prevent accidental screenshots of your data which might then be stored in a less secure location on your phone. Email us at [email protected] if you'd like to discuss further!
Most things work. You can see your records and test results. Displayed upcoming vaccinations and regular appointments are inaccurate. If you need to change your insurance it is quite a pain, especially if you need to copy numbers from a direct app, the app forgets where you were at and you can start over. Then, when you need to take a picture , there is glare in the card. Of course, it's laminated. But nowadays cardeds are digital, is this app ready for it? Nope. Cannot share it from other app.
